San Beda students win second prize at film festival in Japan

Two high school students from San Beda Alabang – James Francis Conda and Kyle Robert Fergara – just brought pride to the Philippines after their three-minute short film called “Footbridge” won second prize in the Asian International Children’s Film Festival.

Held in Awaji, Japan last Nov. 24, the festival received 156 entries from Japan, plus 31 entries from the Philippines, Brunei, Cambodia, South Korea, Laos, Malaysia, Mongolia, Myanmar, Chinese Taipei, Thailand and Vietnam. While Japan won first place, winning second isn’t bad because James and Kyle from the Philippines got a trophy, a certificate and a digital camera – awarded by Natsuko Godai, who is a famous singer in Japan and the wife of Ryotaro Sugi, the founder of the festival.

According to interaksyon.com, the festival is already on its sixth year. It was the first time for the Philippines to join the competition.
