It looks like 2012 is a good year for Filipinos joining pageants. After the wins of Kevin Balot at the Miss International Queen beauty pageant and Jude Macasaet at the Manhunt International pageant, the Philippines has another winner: Stephany Stefanowitz, who placed first runner-up at the recent Miss Earth competition held at the Versailles Palace in Alabang last Nov. 24.
Tereza Fajksová from Czech Republic was the one who got the Miss Earth crown. Apart from Miss Philippines, other runners-up are Miss Venezuela Osmariel Villalobos (Miss water/second runner-up) and Miss Brazil Camila Brant (Miss Fire/third runner-up).
The other Top 8 finalists are Miss USA Siria Bojorquez, Miss South Africa Tamerin Jardine, Miss Russia Natalia Pereverzeva and Miss Nepal Nagma Shrestha.
Miss India Prachi Mishra bagged the Miss Congeniality award; Miss Venezuela Osmariel Villalobos won Miss Photogenic and Miss Thailand Waratthaya Wongchayaporn was proclaimed Best in National Costume.
If you ask us, we’re pretty okay with how Miss Philippines placed just second because it’s always awkward when the host country’s representative wins the contest. Host countries should be banned from joining the contest!
