Five indie films to participate in the Metro Manila Film Festival

Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) Chairman Francis Tolentino revealed yesterday that five full feature independent films will be participating in this year’s Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF).

Tolentino, who also heads the MMFF Executive Committee, said Armando Lao’s “Ad Ignorantiam,” Ronaldo Bertubin’s “Gayak,” Will Fredo’s “In Nomine Matris,” Michael Angelo Dagñalan’s “Paglaya sa Tanikala” and Tyrone Acierto’s “The Grave Bandits” made it to the New Wave section of the festival.

Tolentino explained that this is the 3rd year that the New Wave Section is allowing the entry of independent films. He added that this serves as a platform for independent film producers to participate and showcase their craft.

The screening for the five indie film entries will run from Dec. 18 to 22 at Glorietta Cinemas in Makati City. Ten Student Short Film entries will also be featured, the Philippine Star reported.
