How kind of the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board to try and help It’s Showtime.

After its meeting with the producers of the noontime show, MTRCB released a three-page document containing suggestions for the Pastillas segment of It’s Showtime.

Among its suggestions is for It’s Showtime to introduce ‘scenes depicting Yap’s empowerment as a person while she faces various challenges in her young life.”

According to ABS-CBN, “The agency claimed that this is to negate the impression that ‘her only reason for living is to have a boyfriend’.”

Perhaps It’s Showtime needs better stylists, too? Because apparently, the MTRCB has also reviewed complaints about the show’s wardrobe “and the movements of certain participants” that may be seen as inappropriate.

“It urged the program to subject any manner of dressing to a stricter review process and heavily screen performances so that it does not ‘violate any norm of gender-sensitivity or other rule,” continues the report.

Two weeks ago, women’s rights group Gabriela asked the MTRCB to investigate the Pastillas segment of It’s Showtime because it seemed to be pimping Angelica Jane Yap, better known as Pastillas Girl.

Of course they all deny any such thing is happening, saying they’re only looking to help Yap get over a bad breakup.
