Nostalgia is a powerful drug, which explains why the musical Ang Huling El Bimbo (“The Last El Bimbo”) was such a hit among Gen Xers and older millennials when it first premiered in July 2018. The show has come to a halt, no thanks to this pandemic, but the good news is fans can watch it for free when it’s streamed on ABS-CBN’s YouTube channel.
Producer Full House Theater Company announced yesterday that Ang Huling El Bimbo will be streamed on May 8 to 9. While tuning in is free, viewers are encouraged to donate to the ABS-CBN Foundation and proceeds from the fundraising will benefit families which have been left unemployed by the enhanced community quarantine.
Featuring the hit songs of the Eraserheads, possibly the biggest Pinoy band in history, the musical tells of the friendship among four young adults and how it was tested over time. Among the songs included in the musical are Waiting For The Bus, Minsan (“Once”), Ligaya (“Joy”), Fill Her, and of course, Ang Huling El Bimbo.
