Ian King, car enthusiast, heir to the Victoria Court group of companies and husband of model Joey Mead, has come out as a trans woman.
She now goes by the name Angelina Mead King and, on Sat, Jul 2, set to public an Instagram account she had created as early as four years ago. The username, Hail To The Queen, is a riff on King’s IG account when she was man, Hail To The King. She shared this quote on IG, “Sometimes the king is a woman.”
Her chosen name, Angelina, is a tribute to Joey, whose favorite actress is Angelina Jolie.
Mead and King were married in 2011 and it looks like they’re staying together, as King’s coming-out appears to have been encouraged by Mead. In fact King had this to say about Mead: “(She is) my rock and my number one supporter!”
“I fought hard — tooth and nail, blood, sweat, and tears — for this relationship. Somehow it all breaks away. For what’s life without a little bit of bizarreness,” Mead told Tim Yap on The Philippine Star. In the same article, King revealed that “we have decided to stick it out, no matter what happens.”
The couple have been affirming their affection for each other by posting photos such as the ones below.
King’s brother, businessman Atticus King, has also expressed his support for his sister. On his own Instagram page (@atticusking), he posted a photo that also included Angelina, Joey and a friend. Atticus wrote this caption: “Here’s a pic with my former kuya who is now my ate. Meet my ‘new’ sister Angie.”
