Just in time for the -ber months, fully vaccinated tourists can now enjoy Baguio City’s cool climate without the need for negative test results.
Baguio City mayor Benjamin Magalong issued new travel guidelines for leisure travelers as the city begins to reopen its tourism industry that was heavily impacted by the spike in COVID-19 cases.
Fully vaccinated tourists can book a trip to Baguio on the city’s Visita Baguio website at least one day before the trip and upload their vaccination card. A QR-coded Travel Pass (QTP) will be issued to approved tourists once their booking with their chosen accommodation establishment has been confirmed. Tourists can only travel once a QTP has been provided.
Partially vaccinated or unvaccinated minors will still need to present a negative RT-PCR or Antigen test taken within 72 hours before arriving in Baguio. They may also choose to get tested on-site at the city triage.
Only 2,000 individual registrations will be approved for now. Travelers coming from ECQ, MECQ, Alert Levels 4 and 5 areas, will not be allowed entry.
“Hopefully our reopening will spur economic activity in our city which had almost been nil for the past two months because of the restrictions that we imposed to manage the cases,” Magalong said in a press conference, adding that the city will continue to exercise caution even as they reopen to tourists.
The mayor reiterated that monitoring for strict compliance to minimum public health standards (MPHS) will be set in place for tourists and public establishments, such as the proper wearing of face mask and shield, social distancing and frequent hand sanitizing.
