What happens when beauty queens come together? Netizens become giddy with happiness.
Miss Vietnam 2018 H’Hen Niê and Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray made netizens go gaga when they posted photos of their reunion in New York in their respective Instagram accounts today.
The two queens, both of whom competed at the Miss Universe pageant in December, were together when they watched a New York Fashion Week show.
Niê’s first post with Gray was taken during the fashion show of Vietnamese designer Tran Phuong My. In the photo, the two women were joined by former Miss New York Iman Oubou and Miss Universe Organization manager Esther Swan.
Niê didn’t stop there. She also posted another photo where she and Gray are walking on the street with Oubou after the fashion show. She wrote in the caption: “Swagger on the street of NYC be like. Fun time with my sisters @imanoubou @catriona_gray after enjoying the show of @phuong_my.”
Swagger, indeed!
Niê also posted several snaps of her with Gray on IG stories, including a video where the reigning Miss Universe greets Vietnamese fans. “Sending love and kisses from New York!” Gray said in the story.
Gray also shared some photos from their reunion. In her Instagram post, she wrote: “Despite the snow/rain/hail today’s highlight was definitely catching up with my @missuniverse sister @hhennie.official.”
Oubou also joined the two queens in other photos.
Niê, who visited the country earlier this month, is famous in the Philippines because pageant-crazy fans here were captivated by her Cinderella-like story.
She refused to get married at age 14 and took on various odd jobs to finance her schooling, ABS-CBN News reported. She grew up into a successful beauty queen, landing in the top five of the Miss Universe pageant in Bangkok in December.
Of course, Filipinos also love Gray, who won the Miss Universe crown as the country’s representative. The Filipino-Australian model now resides in New York where she will stay during her reign.
Naturally, netizens loved seeing the two women together. Commenting on Gray’s post, a netizen exclaimed that she loved both Gray and Niê.
Another wrote about how she loves that Gray treats the other Miss Universe candidates like sisters.
Referring to the photos of Gray, Niê, and Oubou together, another netizen said they reminded her of her favorite 1990s girl group, Destiny’s Child.
