Miss World 2013 Megan Young is set to return to the country tomorrow after a whirlwind fundraising tour for Yolanda — a last-minute thing.
“I was in New York yesterday for another fundraising event. We were there to raise money for Haiti and two foundations we support in the Philippines but sadly, we had the tragic event back home with Typhoon Yolanda. We just felt the need to focus on helping our kababayans,” she tells TFC Balitang America in Tagalog.

She was also in the United Kingdom where she Miss World partnered with The Sun newspaper for a fundraiser via text messaging, which is also supported by Simon Cowell, popstar Olly Murs and model Naomi Campbell, according to the Miss World website.
“After stops in New York and Los Angeles, Young will cross the Pacific Ocean and tour Asia, including Hong Kong, Jakarta, Philippines and even China,” reports TFC Balitang America. “The whole reason for being Miss World is to put aside things like that (differences). Your purpose is to help out people who have no voice. And you give that voice to them and you help them in any way that you can. It’s not about the fights that we have with other countries. It’s about working with them and helping out those in need,” she tells TFC Balitang America in the video below.
