Meet JC Santos, the swoon-worthy third wheel in James Reid and Nadine Lustre’s new soap

If you caught the premiere episode of ABS-CBN’s newest primetime drama Till I Met You, starring James Reid and Nadine Lustre, then you noticed JC Santos, the sexy, good-looking third wheel to James’ Sebastian and Nadine’s Iris.

JC plays Alejandro, Iris’ childhood friend, whom she falls in love with.

READ: James Reid and Nadine Lustre’s new teleserye will have a gay twist, oh my!

It doesn’t take a genius to figure out that, in the, end Iris will end up falling for Sebastian. That’s even more likely to happen after the first episode, which is already suggesting that Alejandro is gay and attracted to Sebastian, whom he first saw online as some sort of James Dean look-alike.

While this may be his first major TV project, JC is not a stranger to show business. In fact, it can be said that he’s one of the industry’s most hard-working actors. He has appeared in the ABS-CBN afternoon soap Tubig at Langis and in the drama anthology programs of both ABS-CBN and GMA.

You may have also seen him opposite Jasmine Curtis-Smith in the charming online series Forever Sucks and Shaina Magdayao in the Cinema One series Single/Single.

Most recently, he played the romantic lead in the indie movie Sakaling Hindi Makarating opposite Alessandra de Rossi.

But his roots are in theater.

JC, 27, studied Theater Arts at the University of the Philippines, where he was part of Dulaang UP. He has appeared in a number of local theater productions such as Spring Awakening and Orosman at Zafira (yes, he can sing, too).

He worked at Hong Kong Disneyland and Universal Studios in Singapore before studying musical theater in New York in 2014.

He has no problems playing second fiddle to James and Nadine in the show.

“I want to be a working actor in TV and film,” he told ABS-CBN News. “I always go to auditions. I accept whatever role I get.”

In fact, JC said he auditioned for the role of Alejandro in Till I Met You

“Actually nung time na ‘yun, iniisip ko okay na ako kung aawayin ko lang si James dito. Gulat na gulat po ako at hindi ako makapaniwala na isa ako sa mga bida. Nagpapasalamat po ako sa pagtitiwala talaga. Punong puno ang puso ko ngayon,” he said.

(At that time, I was thinking I’d be okay if I play the guy who just fights with James. I was very surprised and I couldn’t believe that I got one of the lead characters. I’m thankful for the trust they gave me. My heart is full right now.)

Now that he’s gotten his big showbiz break, we’re expecting big things from JC.
