The 65th Miss Universe competition is less than three weeks away, and the last thing Maxine Medina needs right now is online hate from bashers who are comparing her to last year’s winner, Pia Wurtzbach.
Maxine’s bashers are particularly attacking her communication skills, especially after her recent interviews went viral on social media.
Naysayers are saying that Maxine should just use our Mother Tongue in the interview portion of the pageant— and they are not exactly using nice words in voicing out their thoughts.
One of Maxine’s mentors stepped up to defend this year’s PH bet.
“I feel bad because of the online bashing that is happening at the moment,” wrote Maxine’s communication trainer Mark Arthur Abalos on his Facebook page.
Abalos said that Maxine has been working hard in the past seven months to improve. He never doubted Maxine’s capabilities, he said.

“We are second language speakers of English. Errors are normal. Even first language speakers of English commit mistakes, too. At the end of the day, it’s just a beauty contest. Maxine will still be beautiful. She’ll still be designing interiors. She has a beautiful life ahead. How about you?” he asked.
Maxine is in the difficult position of representing the Philippines in the pageant after the country won the Miss Universe title in 2015.
