Maxine Medina: ‘We can be the change that we want to be’

The 65th Miss Universe pageant is just a few days away, and everyone is feeling the heat.

The Philippines’ bet to the pageant, Maxine Medina, says she is very ready for the competition.

In a recent interview with ABS-CBN’s Tonight with Boy Abunda, she admits that the “pressure is always there” as the representative of the country to Miss Universe. But she adds, “We become what we think. Naniniwala ako sa sarili ko ngayon. Konti na lang, maniniwala na ako sa destiny.”

(I believe in myself right now. Just a bit more and I’ll already believe in destiny.)

Maxine is in the difficult position of representing the Philippines in the pageant after the country won the Miss Universe title in 2015.

It does not help that many naysayers are claiming her communications skill leave much to be desired. Days before the pageant, Maxine said: “Ever since, I know my weaknesses. And I’ve been working hard. Now, I’m ready. I’m getting better.”

She adds Pia has been giving her tips for the upcoming pageant.

In an Instagram post on Mon, Jan 9, Maxine shares she has learned how to love herself and appreciate her entirety.

“We are extraordinary. We are flawed. We are unique. We are vulnerable. We are loved. And most of all, we can be the change that we want to be,” she adds.

Good luck, Maxine!
