Another day, another celebrity destination wedding. Yesterday, actress Maxene Magalona and musician Robby Mananquil tied the knot in an outdoor ceremony at Shangri-La Boracay.
Magalona’s entourage included actress Julia Montes and Miss World 2013 winner Megan Young. Her sister, blogger Saab Magalona, was going to be her matron of honor but was not able to make it to the event due to her pregnancy.
“Today my maid-of-honor gets married and, as her matron-of-honor, I’m so sad that I can’t be with her physically,” Saab said in an Instagram photo posted yesterday. “I recently learned that I’m not allowed to travel anymore until after the twins’ birth. I really wish I could be there, but with her big and selfless heart, she told me not to worry about it because the safety of my babies is what’s most important.”
In November, Saab announced that she and her husband Jim Bacarro were expecting twins, one boy and one girl.
Apart from members of the entourage, other celebrities who attended the wedding were Maxene’s brother Elmo Magalona, Lauren Young, Mikael Daez, and Janella Salvador.
Maxene is the daughter of the late Filipino Rapper Francis Magalona, aka Francis M. To commemorate his father, Maxene added a locket with a photo of him to her wedding bouquet. ABS-CBN news also reported that Francis M.’s song Girl Be Mine was playing when Maxene walked down the aisle.
Francis M. died after a battle with leukemia in 2009.
Before the wedding, the couple also hosted a pre-wedding dinner at the Shangri-La resort.
Maxene and Mananquil first made their relationship public in 2015. They got engaged early last year while on vacation in Japan. Mananquil is the guitarist of the band Pulso while Maxene recently starred in the ABS-CBN teleserye (TV series) Doble Kara (Two Faces).
