Six months after it was announced that the film Citizen Jake won’t be joining the annual Metro Manila Film Festival, it finally premieres today.
The latest from acclaimed director Mike de Leon, the film tells the story of journalist Jake Herrera (played by real-life reporter Atom Araullo) who investigates a rape case in Baguio City.
The movie is described as a neo-noir and is a commentary on Philippine society and politics.

Since it’s going to be held in the new “nightlife market” (read: an event space with multiple bar stalls), The Island in Bonifacio Global City, you can expect a night of drinking, dancing, and a whole lot of sing-alongs to hits like The Way, Gangsta, and Honey.

Pretend to escape the city at this reggae party

Date: May 26, Saturday
Venue: The Ruins, 5852 Alfonso St., Poblacion, Makati City
The Philippines has been on summer mode for months now, but for those who have been too busy to go to the beach, here’s an event that brings the beach to you. Sort of. Kind of. We’re eternal optimists.
Anyway, it’s all going down at event space The Ruins, in Makati’s Poblacion neighborhood. The place will be turned into a reggae fest with local acts like Engkanto, Kokoi Baldo, and Juan Gapang performing live.
The event will run from 7pm to midnight, but those who aren’t quite ready to end the night just yet can walk to nearby Pura Vida to continue on with the reggae vibes.
