Bring your family to a musical

If your family is still on a The Greatest Showman high, you can bring them to another family-friendly musical this weekend. The classic musical Chitty Chitty Bang Bang will be staged in the Newport Performing Arts Theater starting tomorrow and is a good way to introduce your children to plays and live performances.
It tells the story of an inventor, his two children, and his love interest who go on an adventure using a flying race car.

Catch a musical based on a classic Filipino film
Date: Feb. 10 (Saturday) – March 4 (Sunday)
Venue: Power Mac Center Spotlight, Circuit Makati
For those who want to watch a musical but are looking for something more local, catch the latest stage adaptation of the classic Filipino film Himala (Miracle).
Like the original Ishmael Bernal film starring Nora Aunor, Himala: Isang Musikal (Himala: A Musical) is about Elsa, a faith healer in a provincial town. But this time, it is set to music by Vincent De Jesus. The musical was first staged in 2004 and was also written by the film’s screenwriter Ricky Lee.

Rock on to Original Pilipino Music (OPM)
Date: Feb. 24, Saturday
Venue: Aseana City concert grounds, Parañaque City
Those who want to continue enjoying local music throughout the weekend can head to the Rakrakan Festival in the Aseana City concert grounds. The event’s lineup is filled with OPM acts from different rock genres like Ely Buendia, Franco, and She’s Only Sixteen, among many others.
There will be a total of 120 artists performing on six stages.
