For American Idol’s “I’m with the Band” theme, our Fil-Am bet Malaya Watson chose to cover “The Long and Winding Road” by The Beatles. And while it isn’t as band-y as the others’ choices/performances, her number was still pretty good and goosebumps-inducing.
In fact, judge Keith Urban noted how the number showed her voice and spirit, while judge Jennifer Lopez shared that she has “the sweetness of a young Michael Jackson.” Judge Harry Connick, Jr. had some good words, too. He said that Malaya has been consistently improving and that she really listens to what they tell her to improve on.
Result should be out in a bit, and hopefully Malaya moves on to Top 8.
