Maine Mendoza is back on social media

Where in the world in Maine Mendoza?

Based on photos she posted on Instagram yesterday, it looks like she’s in the United States with her family.

Fans started wondering where Mendoza had gone earlier this month when she stopped appearing on the noontime variety show Eat Bulaga where she is a regular cast member. She has also been silent on social media for a little less than a month.

But it looks like all is well with her. “Life is short. Smile often,” her latest Instagram post reads. She also updated her Instagram Story with a photo of her with family in a Universal Orlando ride.

Before these photos, her last post on the platform was from the Bench fashion show in mid-November.

Life is short. Smile often. 😄

Her Twitter has also been pretty dormant. Her last two tweets were from Dec. 1 and were both posts about products she sponsors.

Mendoza’s break from social media came after she posted an open letter to her fans where she asked for her “freedom” and officially revealed that she and her love team partner Alden Richards were not together in real life.

Filipino love team fans are very dedicated but also very intense. Mendoza’s open letter was a risk, especially because her fanbase is mostly online. The day after she tweeted her open letter, she posted also posted this seemingly sarcastic tweet directed at her critics.

She also made news in October after standing up to veteran comedian and co-host Joey De Leon after he downplayed a show contestant’s depression.

“Depression is not a laughing matter. It’s not a joke. Because many people go through it, especially today’s youth. That if you’re going through it, give them the support,” Mendoza said in Filipino on live television.

Mendoza, aka Yaya Dub, first got famous for her viral videos on the lipsync social media platform Dubsmash. She then catapulted to stardom after pairing up with Richards for Eat Bulaga‘s Kalyeserye (street series) segment.

She continues to have a huge social media following today, even becoming the 5th most tweeted celebrity in the world, above former One Direction members Harry Styles and Niall Horan.

Although people feared that she had been suspended from Eat Bulaga assured fans earlier this month, the show’s longtime house Vic Sotto that this was not the case.
