The preliminary rounds of the 63rd Annual Miss Universe pageant started this morning, Jan. 22, 2015, and it is safe to say that our bet, Mary Jean Lastimosa, performed pretty well.

We love the way she introduced herself, complete with head tilting, chin up, some kembot, and then mouth wide open after everything.
 

We love her perfect body and strut during the swimsuit round. She totally rocked the hot pink two-piece by Yamamay.
 

However, we’re not a big fan of her evening gown. As usual, it is by Colombian designer Alfredo Barrazza, and as usual, it’s not outstandingly good. Sure, it’s a notch better than what our previous delegates wore (Janine Tugonon, Areilla Arida, and Venus Raj), but there are so many other gowns out there, all better, and by Filipino designers.
 

Oh, before we forget, we also saw MJ’s national costume, and it’s one big hot mess. She’s like a tower of meringue.
