What will former First Lady and current Ilocos Norte 2nd District Rep. Imelda Marcos say about this?
Actress Dindi Gallardo is playing Mrs. Marcos in the independent film Dahlin Nick, a documentary drama about the life and works of National Artist for Literature Nick Joaquin. The film is directed by Sari Dalena.
The movie is one of the nine official entries to this year’s Cinema One Originals film festival.
In an interview with Edwin P. Sallan of InterAksyon.com, Gallardo had this to say about Mrs. Marcos: “I haven’t met her. I’ve seen her, though and you know, she has such an aura and a presence. I didn’t have much speaking lines in the film but I have to study her moves and read about her so I can build on that aura and presence. I didn’t want to just copy her. I want to take the essence of Imelda and make it my own. After all, I am an artist and what you’ll see in the film is my interpretation of her.”
Gallardo recently shared a collage showing herself in “Imelda mode” alongside a photo of the former First Lady herself. This much we can say: She has the look down pat.
