Filipinos love their “love teams.”
The young viewers of Sunday noontime show ASAP have voted Liza Soberano and Enrique Gil, also called “LizQuen” by their fans, as their favorite tandem on the ABS-CBN Network.
The tandem received their award yesterday on the show.
Gil also took home the Pop Heartthrob award, while Soberano nabbed the female counterpart, Pop Sweetheart.
Their 2017 film My Ex’s and Whys, was also voted favorite movie.
Love teams are actors paired together by TV networks and film studios to star in soap operas and movies. Some love teams have led fans to believe their favorite stars are also real-life couples, something the industry, frankly, seems to encourage.
While love teams are supposed to be make believe, Filipino do take their admiration for their favorite tandems a little too far sometimes. Last week, Maine Mendoza reacted to her fans bashing another Filipino actor Jake Ejercito after she was spotted in one of his Instagram stories. This prompted her to clarify that she and her love team partner Alden Richards were just friends.
