We’ve all seen the dubious live product demonstrations on the street corners and in the shopping malls of Manila, but few brands have the guts to host a live experiment above one of the busiest roads in the city.
Clearly confident in their own claims, however, Vaseline did exactly that earlier this year, much to the surprise of commuters in the metro. The live experiment saw a huge billboard covered in real leaves, half of which were coated in Vaseline Jelly (AKA Petroleum Jelly), and the other half of which were nude.
After three days of being exposed to the elements, the leaves coated with Vaseline stayed green and hydrated, while those without it withered into brown, crinkly obscurity.
But the point of this novel idea was not in fact to encourage Filipinos to grease up their gardens, but to demonstrate the magical moisturizing capabilities of Vaseline Jelly, which has remained a must-have skincare product in households across the world for more than 150 years.

The pure Petroleum Jelly is fab for extremely dry areas such as lips, elbows, knees and feet, and can also be employed to stop new shoes rubbing and smooth down hair frizzed by the humidity, to name but a few uses. But if smearing such a rich jelly onto your face and body seems a little too much of a grease fest for you, there is now another option.
The Vaseline team has developed a new range of lighter lotions, infused with micro-droplets of the magic ingredient. The micro-droplets of Vaseline Petroleum Jelly present in Vaseline Lotions are easily absorbed into the skin’s epidermis, bringing back moisture to dry skin without the sticky feel. There are a few options to choose from, including lotions with deep restorative ingredients.
