Top 10: Workout songs for 2016

Presented by

It’s already the second month of the new year, have you kept your get fit resolutions? If you’re having trouble staying on track, let us help you with this cool playlist that will get you pumping. It’s simple: just plop in your earphones, click on Spotify, and choose this list below.

You’ll find the perfect beats for your warm-up, actual workout, and cool down. We think  these songs match any sort of exercise too, whether it be running, lifting weights, rowing — and make you feel like you can take on the world (okay, at least the day)  again and again.

1. Old school aero

“Physical” by Olivia Newton-John. A must on any  workout list. There’s nothing like Olivia’s crystalline voice to coax you to get off your butt. Check out the music video too, for extra motivation.

2. Think how awesome you’ll look on the dancefloor

“Show Me Love” by Robyn. Still need an extra push? Nothing like a classic club hit to get you into it. Do this for yourself, girl! Werk it!

3. Pump it

“Bootylicious” by Destiny’s Child. Doing squats or pumping iron or doing both at the same time — visualize your butt morphing into Beyonce’s. Yep, that’ll do it.

4. Own it

“Confident” by Demi Lovato. With a better body comes greater confidence. Picture yourself in the clothes you’ve always wanted to wear, walking into a room with all eyes on you. Critics can be unforgiving, remember that…

5. Giving up is for losers!

“Work Bitch” by Britney Spears. Slacking is out of the question, cheat days are for weak-minded souls.

6. No pain, no gain

“Looking Hot” by No Doubt. If there’s one singer you should think about when doing your workout, it’s Gwen Stefani. Right? RIGHT??

7. Summon the Force

“Stronger” by Kanye. This mashup with Daft Punk will reassure you that you’ve got more in you than you believe…working out is beyond looking good, it’s about functioning better, living longer, and getting to eat more burgers without it showing!

8. Push it!

“4 Minutes” by Madonna featuring Justin Timberlake. A subtle reminder to keep at it for eight more reps, or your day’s dose of HIIT.

9. Feel victorious

“Eye of the Tiger” by Survivor. If you’ve seen any Rocky movie, then you will know this is the perfect song to make you feel like a champ after a workout. For millennials who don’t know who Apollo Creed, Clubber Lang and Ivan Drago are, just please refer to 2015’s Creed. The old guy is Rocky, and he is a god.

10. Strut your stuff

Our tenth and last song is a toss-up between Bee Gees’ “Staying Alive” and Irene Cara’s “What a Feeling”. High five for surviving today’s workout. Don’t you feel just awesome?
