Leni Robredo’s new jingle is by the same composer who wrote Sarah Geronimo’s “Tala”

Campaign season is well and truly here, and while there’s no shortage of questionable billboards around, we have thankfully yet to be beset with videos of dancing politicians.

That will come soon enough, but in the meantime, Team Leni Robredo has released an early jingle that is, refreshingly, a tasteful addition to the Halalan 2022 playlist.

Though Vice President Leni Robredo has yet to announce her candidacy for next year’s elections, she has repeatedly said that she was open to the idea of running for the highest office in the land. And her supporters have made it clear early on that they mean business.

According to a post by former presidential spokesperson Edwin Lacierda, the upbeat “Kay Leni Kami” song was put together by director Nolan Bernardino, composer Nica del Rosario, producers Mat Olavides and Jumbo De Belen, singer/songwriter Jeli Mateo, and singer Justine Peña.

If the song seems surprisingly refined for a campaign jingle, consider that Nica del Rosario and Jumbo De Belen were part of the team behind Sarah Geronimo’s 2015 viral hit “Tala”. Del Rosario, in fact, reportedly wrote the monster hit in all of three hours.

Will her songwriting magic also work for VP Leni? We’ll let you be the judge:
