Yesterday, Tony award-winning Filipino actor, Lea Salonga announced that she is headed back to Broadway.
Apart from Miss Saigon’s Kim, she has played both Éponine and Fantine on Les Misérables, voiced two Disney princess, and is now set to play Erzulie, the goddess of love, in the upcoming revival of the Laurence Olivier Award-winning musical, Once On This Island.
With the Caribbean sea as its backdrop, the show tells the story of how love, race, and social class.
It is about Ti Moune, a peasant girl who angers the god of death after saving Daniel Beauxhomme, a rich man, from a car crash. Ti Moune falls in love with Daniel but their differing social classes prove to be a challenge.
“So excited to be returning to Broadway this fall in one of my favorite shows,” Salonga said in a tweet.

The singer just finished her sixth season as a judge for various Philippine editions of the reality show The Voice, where the finalist from her team, Mica Becerro, finished in third place.
Salonga’s last Broadway show was 2015’s Allegiance where she worked alongside George Takei.
Preview performances of Once On This Island will start on Nov. 9 and will open in Broadway’s Circle in the Square Theatre on Dec. 3.
