Yes, you read that right.
“In ABS-CBN’s evening talk show, Aquino and Abunda Tonight, on Tuesday, Feb 11, actress-TV host Kris Aquino declared that her ex-husband, basetball player James Yap will never resort to ‘selling’ a game,” reports Chuck Smith on Philstar.com.
The report explained: “The game fixing allegation came after Yap’s team, San Mig Super Coffee Mixers, lost to the Ginebra San Miguel Kings on Monday, February 10, after he was called for a loose-ball foul and missed a three-point shot during the game’s fourth quarter.”
Aquino went on to say, “As somebody who used to read the contracts of James Yap, pag pumasok sila sa finals, kahit anong benta ang sinasabi nila, matutumbasan yun ang kikitain nila by making it to the finals. Ganun kalaki ang kontrata niya. There’s no reason for him to sell the game (As somebody who used to read the contracts of James Yap, I know that if they make it to the finals, then whatever amount is supposedly being offered for them to ‘fix’ the game is easily trumped by the money they’d earn if they reach the finals. That’s how huge his contract is. There’s no reason for him to sell the game).”
Aquino and Yap were married in 2005. They separated in 2010 and their marriage was annulled by the court in 2012. Yap is the father of Aquino’s son, Bimby.
