Katrina Halili plays a character named Scarlet in a TV show about surrogacy

Is this coincidence, or what?

Actress Katrina Halili plays a contravida in GMA’s upcoming afternoon soap opera Sa Piling Ni Nanay, a show that tackles — wait for it — surrogacy.

Her character is unable to bear a child so she hires Ysabel (played by Yasmien Kurdi) as surrogate mother.

Katrina’s name in the show is — wait for it again — Scarlet.

Again we ask, is that coincidence, or what?

If we have to connect the dots for you: Katrina was, some time ago, involved in a sex video scandal with Hayden Kho Jr, boyfriend of celebrity doctor Vicki Belo.

Hayden and Vicki now have a baby daughter named Scarlet Snow via a surrogate.

Yikes.

Katrina, however, clarifies that this coincidence was not intentional. Scarlet, after all, is a common contravida name in local soap operas.

She explained the show, which premieres on Jun 27, was conceptualized and taped its first episodes way before Vicki and Hayden revealed they have a baby named Scarlet.

“Hindi ko nga po alam yan e. Nauna po ito. Tapos, after two weeks, nirelease yung baby ni Dra. Belo na Scarlet din yun name. Nagulat din ako,” she said during the press conference of her GMA show on Tue, Jun 14.

(“I didn’t know. Our soap opera was conceptualized before Dra. Belo admitted she has a baby named Scarlet. I was also surprised.”)

Katrina said they had no ill intentions. “Nagkataon lang. Wala namang masamang intensyon.”

(“It’s just a coincidence. We don’t mean to do harm.”)

She added: “Grabe, grabe ang pagkakataon.” (“Wow, I can’t believe the timing.”)

It seems Katrina can’t escape her past, but we’re sure no one would mind. The actress and the celebrity doctor have already made peace with each other in 2014.

Katrina, 30, has a three-year-old daughter named Katrence Lawrence. But she is currently single.

“Hindi po ako naiinggit, darating din po yun sa akin,” Katrina said when asked if she is jealous of co-star Yasmien, who is married.

(“I don’t feel envious. The right one will come along.”)

Being single isn’t exactly her choice, Katrina said, but she doesn’t want to rush things this time around.

“Baka magkamali ako,” she quipped.
