Yes, Julia Barretto snubbed some fans during the ASAP20, and she just took to Twitter to apologize for and explain the whole thing.
A viral video showed the 18-year-old Julia leaving a building and not smiling, not waving, not even acknowledging fans who were crying out her name.
Of course, it caused a huge ruckus online, especially after radio DJ Mo Twister reposted the clip with the caption, “Like Julia, I don’t have the time to acknowledge fans… This is how you snob these parasites like a champion. #Blessed.”
On Instagram, she told her followers her side of the story: “A lot of you may be judging me, a lot of you may be hating on me right now, and a lot of you may be disappointed with my past actions. You can tell me it’s easy to even glance, how fast it is to smile or wave back… Because yes it is, and I apologize for not having done so.”
She claimed the clip only showed one part of the incident, as she did make an effort to greet some of them: “Of course, only that part of the video was uploaded, not even the part when I made an effort to say ‘hi’ despite how much people were pushing away the fans to make way for us flying back to Manila, because we were almost late for our flight.”
She also said the post was her attempt to explain her side, even if she doesn’t have to. “I am for my fans. I am for myself because I cannot take way too much judgement from people who do not know me behind the camera.”
For public personalities, there’s a lesson in here somewhere. Julia, unfortunately, learned the hard way.
