Maxine Medina, the Philippines’ bet to the 65th Miss Universe, is receiving a bit of online hate from bashers attacking her communication skills.
But don’t fret: her mentor, famed beauty queen trainer Jonas Gaffud, is confident Maxine will do well in the pageant, which will happen on Jan 30, 2017.
In an interview with Glenn Sibonga of Pep, Jonas said he believes Maxine has a good chance of doing well in the pageant.
He’s aiming for a top three finish for Maxine. “Gusto kong makapasok sa top three si Maxine,” Jonas said. (I want Maxine to enter the top three.)
He added: “And then, from there, bahala na. Siyempre, positive dapat tayo.” (Of course, we should be positive.)
Jonas also said he advised Maxine not to think about winning the Miss Universe pageant; instead, she should focus on being a good host delegate.
Maxine’s communication trainer Mark Arthur Abalos earlier took to social media to defend the Pinay beauty queen from naysayers.
It’s understandable that Maxine is getting a lot of criticism right now, days before the pageant. After all, we just won the Miss Universe crown in Dec 2015 thanks to Pia Wurtzbach’s stellar performance. And we have been blessed with very competent Miss Universe representatives lately (the Philippines has never been out of the top 10 since 2010).
But maybe we should focus on supporting Maxine instead on bashing her?
