John Lloyd Cruz: ‘Filipinos deserve a better nation’

We love it when actors become political (though we often hate it when they become politicians).

John Lloyd Cruz, in an interview with Push published Wednesday, criticized the Aquino government for failing to provide its people basic necessities, rendering poor Filipinos vulnerable to scams such as the one shown in Honor Thy Father, the embattled Metro Manila Film Festival that he stars in.

He added: “If you ask me, hindi ako happy Filipino citizen kung ang pag-uusapan ay kung naibibigay ang service na karapat-dapat sa atin. Sa mga hirap na nararanasan ng taongbayan araw-araw, we deserve a better nation.”

The actor also said he had given up on the country at one point, if not for his friend’s advice.

With an ABS-CBN report.
