Dominador Alemania Arcilla, the father of Filipino actor John Arcilla has died on Sunday in Baler, Aurora.
The 53-year-old actor clarified in an Instagram post yesterday that his father did not succumb from COVID-19. However, he said that the enhanced community quarantine placed over Luzon has made him unable to pay respects to his father, who lived a five-hour-drive away from Metro Manila.
Arcilla said that he was not one to announce “the passing of someone dear to me.”
“If not for the quarantine which I believe is necessary…I would not express anything about my father’s fate,” he said.
He said that the funeral home is still securing a travel permit to bring his father’s body to Metro Manila, but they couldn’t guarantee if they will be allowed to do so. Under the enhanced quarantine’s rules, mass gatherings like wakes are not allowed.
“So my father’s body will just stay in a Funeral Chapel for two days without the wake and will be buried with restricted attendance of people the next day. Half the number of my siblings are here in Manila and all the grandchildren are based here,” Arcilla lamented.
He closed his post by asking friends and followers to pray for his father.

The veteran theater and screen actor is best known for his swaggering portrayal of the historic Filipino General Antonio Luna in the fictional biopic Heneral Luna.
Luzon’s enhanced community quarantine, enforced in March to curb the spread of COVID-19 was meant to end on April 12 but has been extended to April 30.
