A day before Jej Vinson wowed judges on The Voice, a group of young Filipino dancers made a jaw-dropping performance on another US show.

Filipino teen dance group VPeepz wowed judges on the US show World of Dance when they performed on March 3 (California time), giving the crew the opportunity to advance in the talent show’s next round.

Sporting firemen costumes, VPeepz danced to Ludacris’ “How Low.” Their performance was so good that judge and executive producer Jennifer Lopez said they were “flawless” and performed like professional dancers.

After their performance judge Derek Hough asked them why they flew all the way from the Philippines to perform on the show.

One of the members answered: “I guess we just want to show the world that even though we’re all different, I can say that there’s really unity in diversity. Dance really brought us together, our love for one another and our love for dancing.”

Her eloquent answer led Lopez to say: “To hear your mission statement from your mouth, from how you feel and what you’re all about, to me, this is why I have so much hope for the future of this world.”

“These kids, at this age, they are so far above what we were in our thoughts and our mind. They’re going to take care of our future world and generation,” Lopez added. “These kids are 11 to 16 years old. And to hear them talking about diversity and unity and love and class and all, it’s beyond. I wasn’t thinking that when I was 5th grade, ok? I took things for granted.”

Hough, on the other hand, was effusive in his praise for the dancers. “It’s so appropriate that you guys came out in like fireman outfits because that was absolute fire. That was insane,” he said.

He added: “Just like the footwork, the speed, just how in sync you all were, how sharp, how you hit everything, the formation changes, everything was so on point. It was so strong.”

Time to post #ProudtobePinoy, dance fans!

Judge Ne-Yo was no less impressed. “Super strong formations. Super clean moves. Synchronicity: ridiculous. I say it a lot, dancing with one mind, everybody moving at the same time, on the same accord, you guys got that in spades,” he said.

The three judges gave the group a collective score of 90.3 percent which means they will advance to the next round called The Duels, where they will engage in a dance battle against another group who got through the qualifying round. Should VPeepz win the show, they’ll get the prize of US$1 million (PHP52.281 million).

According to their Facebook account, VPeepz was formed in 2017 and aims to promote street dancing so that it could be accepted as an art form and as a real profession for young Filipinos. They were a finalist in the 2018 World Hip Hop Dance Championship held in Phoenix, Arizona.

Good luck, guys. Dance your way to victory.
