So much for no controversies.
According to tabloid reports, Jake Cuenca made caused a commotion at this year’s Star Magic Ball, held at the Makati Shangri-La Mall in Makati City on Sat, Oct 22.

Gorgy Rula of the tabloid Abante-Tonite reports that the actor had a fight with someone at the hotel’s Rizal Ballroom, where the ball was held.
“May nakaaway daw kasi roon si Jake Cuenca na hindi lang alam ng aming source kung sino. May nakita lang daw na nagwawala na ang aktor at inaawat ito ni Gerald Anderson,” Gorgy wrote.
(“Jake Cuenca allegedly fought with someone, but our source does not know who. The source just saw the actor making a scene, and was stopped by Gerald Anderson.”)
Meanwhile, Roldan Castro of the tabloid Hataw reports that, according to his source, Jake cursed and caused a commotion during Jericho Rosales’ acceptance speech for an award he received at the event.
The report added that Gerald and his friend, actor Fred Payawan, dragged Jake out of the ballroom.

Jake, in an interview with ABS-CBN News, said the reports are not true.
But the actor admitted he had been drinking at the event.
Jake explained, “Medyo naparami ako ng inom so inalalayan ako ng handler ko, ng dalawang road manager ko. Medyo nagmukha lang na may commotion pero in reality, I was having way too much fun and they just wanted me to go up and rest.”
(“I had a little too much to drink, so my handler and my two road managers assisted me. It just looked like there was a commotion but in reality, I was having way too much fun and they just wanted me to go up and rest.”)
Jake also said he already talked to Jericho about the incident. “Wala talaga. Nangyari lang sa ganung instance pero nag-usap kami ni (Jericho), walang kaproble-problema. It just happened in an instance na nagsasalita siya at doon na ‘yung nag-decide sila na paakyatin na ako.”
(“Nothing happenned. I already talked to Jericho and it’s not a problem at all. It just happened in an instance that he was talking when they decided to take me to my room.”)

Jake told Reggee Bonoan of Bandera that it was his handler who “dragged” him out of the ballroom and took him to his room.
“Hayun, tulog daw ako agad-agad pagkabagsak ko sa kama ko.”
(“There, they said I immediately fell asleep as soon as I reached my bed.”)
“Si Paulo (Avelino) kasi, sabi niya agahan daw naming uminom, e, hayan, naparami, nalasing kami. Minsan lang naman sa isang taon, sa mga ganitong okasyon lang kasi puro naman kami work,” he explained.
(“Paulo Avelino said we should drink immediately, so there, we ended up drinking a little too much. We got drunk. The ball happens only once a year, we only get to do this in these occasions because we’re always working.”)
Jake recently broke up with girlfriend Sara Grace Kelley. He will also start working on the ABS-CBN soap opera Ikaw Lang Ang Iibigan with Gerald Anderson and Kim Chiu. So maybe that’s why the hard-working actor is blowing off some steam?

In any case, maybe Jake shouldn’t drink too much alcohol at social events.
