The Philippines’ independent film industry has been quite prolific in recent years and it was just announced that one of the most successful movies to come out of that renaissance is getting a sequel.

JP Habac, the director of 2017’s I’m Drunk, I Love You, hinted at the follow up to the film through a tweet yesterday.

Magandang araw, mga bata (Good morning, kids),” he wrote with a photo of the new film’s screenplay.

It will be called I Love You, I Do, which probably means there’s going to be some kind of wedding, one way or another. Habac even added an engagement ring emoji to his tweet.

Part road movie, part rom-com, I’m Drunk I Love You tells the story of Carson (Maja Salvador) and her unrequited love for longtime best friend Dio (Paulo Avelino).

The film is partly set in Manila and the popular surf town San Juan, La Union.

It was praised for how it accurately captured the lives of Filipino millennials, as well as for its soundtrack that features music from local artists.

It became an instant classic, with lines from the movie and memes of some of the scenes regularly being shared online.

Not much is known about the sequel’s plot but fans are already excited.

“OMG!! Please tell me it’s the same cast and please direk (director), make IDILY available for pay per view already,” Twitter user @runthelmarun said.

@summerisherena couldn’t hold her excitement.

“Omg! My Dio-Carson heart is beating! I’m so excited for this,” she wrote with a heart eyes emoji.

@PJ_Palits is already anticipating how he’d feel: “I feel I’ll be hurt by this movie.”
