Manileños, are you ready to share your life story with total strangers?
Yesterday, Brandon Stanton, the man behind the photo blog Humans of New York (HONY) announced on Facebook that he will be visiting Manila later this month.
Stanton did not say much about the what neighborhoods he plans to visit but did say that he is looking for an interpreter that can accompany him.

According to the post, he is looking for someone proficient in English, can work long hours, and has an outgoing and friendly personality — all pretty standard for the type of work HONY is known for.
If you’ve never encountered HONY on Facebook, it is a photo blog that started in New York in 2010 but Stanton has since expanded to countries like Iraq, Vietnam, and Mexico.
Most of its content consists of photos with ordinary people in public spaces like parks and streets, captioned with quotes or descriptions of their conversation with Stanton.
Here’s an example of a post that went viral in 2014.

HONY is very popular on social media and currently has more than 18 million followers on Facebook. There are also two HONY books and in August 2017, a video series titled Humans of New York: The Series was launched on Facebook Watch.
