ICYMI, the Philippines’ first Olympic gold medalist Hidilyn Diaz just got engaged to her long-time boyfriend and coach Julius Naranjo, who proposed to her in the most fitting way possible: with a barbell-themed engagement ring.
Jeweller Manila Diamond Studio helped the weighlifting coach propose to Hidilyn by collaborating on a gold ring inspired by the athlete’s groundbreaking win at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
The custom-made ring features a round-cut diamond with a prong setting, sitting atop a tiny golden barbell sculpture.
“Philippines’ first olympic gold medalist, Hidilyn Diaz’s engagement ring, was inspired by @hidilyndiaz’s love, strength and passion,” Manila Diamond Studio wrote on Instagram. “In collaboration with Coach @imjulius, we brought life to what could only be the perfect ring for her. Another gold for our champ!”
Shortly after her historic win at the Tokyo Olympics, Diaz previously mentioned that she was ready to get married and was only waiting for Naranjo to propose to her.
