How did the Philippines’ first Olympic gold medalist Hidilyn Diaz spend Christmas Day? She spent it by volunteering at relief operations for typhoon Odette victims in the Visayas-Mindanao region.

The Olympic champ, who hails from Mindanao, distributed 1,000 relief packs to the people of Argao in Cebu, along with fiancé Julius Naranjo and non-profit organization Set Forth Philippines, based on photos uploaded on her Instagram page.

“Today, Christmas Day we volunteered at @setforth.ph initiatives to give 1000 relief goods to the 1000 affected families in Argao, Cebu,” Hidilyn wrote on Instagram. “Thank you coach @dcatbautista for inviting me, @imjulius@fairyydeii and @_ikeah to give love, inspiration, and hope on Christmas Day.”

She also called on her followers to help those affected in Visayas and Mindanao by “sparing our hands and helping them rise again as one.”
