‘Heneral Luna’ isn’t shortlisted for the Best Foreign Film category of the Oscars

And another heartbreak for the general.

After failing to get the Golden Globes nod, Heneral Luna also failed to make it to the list of nominees for the Best Foreign Film category of the Academy Awards 2016.

Of the 80 films up for consideration, only nine made it. They are:

– The Brand New Testament (Belgium)
– Embrace of the Serpent (Colombia)
– A War (Denmark)
– The Fencer (Finland)
– Mustang (France)
– Labyrinth of Lies (Germany)
– Viva (Ireland)
– Theeb (Jordan)

According to Oscars.org, the nine-point list will further be cut down to five. The complete list of nominees will be announced on Jan 14.

Heneral Luna was the dark horse of Philippine Cinemas, surviving a super slow start to stay in cinemas for an impressive four-week run, earning a whopping PHP257 million.
