Head piece of Maxine’s national costume costs over PHP1M

Fashion designer Rhett Eala has created the dresses which Philippine bet Maxine Medina will wear for the national costume and the long gown competition of the 65th Miss Universe pageant.

While Eala won’t divulge specific details about his creations, he revealed that Medina’s national costume head piece costs over PHP1 million as it is made of south sea pearls from Jewelmer.

“For the headdress alone and the earrings — I just saw the earrings today — it’s more than a million (pesos) for sure,” he said.

Eala described the dress itself as “very elegant. It’s very sexy. It’s also very modern. You’ll be pleasantly surprised. The national costume is also her choice.”

For the evening gown, Eala designed three gowns for Medina which were all approved by Binibining Pilipinas Charities Inc. chairperson Stella Araneta.

“The final decision is with her. I don’t know which one she’s going to pick. I can’t really say na ito ‘yung isusuot niya. All of them were approved by madam but the final selection will be Maxine,” he said.

Eala was also the one who designed Medina’s national costume and evening gown when she competed in Binibining Pilipinas last year.
