Have you seen the Blue Bustamante movie posters?

Granted they’re unofficial posters for the movie Blue Bustamante but they’re quietly creeping up and around our social media feeds. Reminiscent of ’80s TV hits Bioman and Shaider, these promotional posters are actually promotional materials for the fictional television show within the movie. “We created our own show and sentai characters inspired by Super Sentai-Bioman and Maskman,” says Jaime Dumancas, producer of Blue Bustamante.

Here’s where it becomes even more curious: Blue Bustamante is a movie about an OFW. Unlike Ate Vi’s Anak, Claudine Barretto’s Milan, or even Aga Mulach’s Dubai, indeed movies about buhay-OFW, Blue Bustamante doesn’t reek of heavy OFW drama. At least not yet. A Filipino goes to Japan, loses his promised job soon after, but won’t go home defeated. So he looks for work and gets cast as a stuntman for a Sentai superhero show Force Five. Makes reasonable and amusing sense, right?

The movie is part of the line up of the 2013 Cinema One Originals Film Festival and has indie darlings Joem Basco, Jun Sabayton, Dimples Romana, and Jhiz Deocareza in its cast. Trivia: indie people will be pleased to know that Ketchup Eusebio, of Rakenrol fame appears in a cameo.

Blue Bustamante opens on Nov 10, and will screen from Nov 11 to 19 at Glorietta, Trinoma, and Robinsons Galleria. See the trailer below:
