Welcome back, Jao Mapa!
The ’90s It Boy just landed a role in the pilot episode of the upcoming TV adaptation of Ang Probinsyano. Jao Mapa will be playing the role of SPO1 Fred Salas.
The unofficial fourth Gwaping told ABS-CBN that his family supports his return on-cam: “Very supportive. Actually, my wife is kasi an actress, pero stage din siya. Hindi pa siya masyadong kilala. She’s a good actress, she does indie films.”
In this project, he will be working with Coco Martin, whom Jao describes as “very professional.”
“Wala akong masabi. Hands down ako [sa kanya], good actor and nice guy also. It’s an honor to be working with Coco.”
After his long layoff, the Ang TV alumnus quickly shook off the rust and went full throttle back in the grid. Aside Ang Probinsyano, Jao is also busy with a movie directed by Arlyn dela Cruz.
According to his Instagram page, he’s been shooting a film called Tibak (The Story of the Kabataang Makabayan). It’s a movie about the Communist Party of the Philippines and the New People’s Army. Jao plays Luis Jalandoni, the spokesperson of the NDF.
Yup, Jao Mapa is back like he never left.
