It’s not easy being a dashing young general.
Goyo: Ang Batang Heneral (Goyo: The Boy General) lead star Paulo Avelino had to respond to tweets from thirsty netizens after he invited them yesterday to an AMA — that’s internet lingo for “Ask Me Anything.”
He told netizens they can ask his character, Gregorio “Goyo” del Pilar, any question. The hashtag: #AskGoyo.
#AskGoyo anyone?

Well, Avelino was in for a surprise when he was bombarded with declarations of desire over Twitter.
At first, it wasn’t that bad, with people genuinely curious about his character and the film, which is a sequel to the 2015 Philippine historical biopic Heneral Luna.
“[What was the] favorite line you said in the movie which is still super relevant until now? #AskGoyo” asked Twitter user @awowbrenda.
He responded in Filipino: “It’s not my lines, but rather, [Apolinario] Mabini’s.”

Then things got a bit cheeky:
@paubelle asked: “How big….was your responsibility in being Goyo?”
But Avelino handled it like a pro: “My responsibility as a general ended when I died for you.”

Until people just started to #AskGoyo blatantly thirsty questions.
One example came from Twitter user @jeaniune who asked: “Hello, can I ask you out instead? I have no one to watch it with, huhuhu.”
Avelino said: “Which cinema are you watching at?”
Saang sinehan ka ba manonood? https://t.co/2ue4YNNqY6

This was followed by more thirsty tweets, some of which went a little overboard.
@dnnsshly_ wrote: “What’s the taste of your lips HEHEHE just curious, [it’s for my] thesis!!!”
Avelino was a bit of a tease: “What if I hit your lips with your thesis? Go study!”
ihampas ko kaya sa lips mo yang thesis mo. Mag aral ka huy https://t.co/9KpWLIeC7r

@roanntantan_ was insinuating something else when she asked: “If the position of Gregorio del Pilar is general, what position do you want?”
“Your boyfriend,” Avelino said.

Another was seemingly heartbroken. A certain user with the handle @jpsdy_ asked: “How does one move on?”
“I’ll be the one to replace him,” he said.

And it wasn’t just women who tweeted him. No sir, he got some love from guys, too.
“I don’t have a thesis anymore, but I’ll just slam myself against you,” said @shawnplx.
Avelino let him down gently: “We’re not a great match bro, but thank you for the love.”

Sometimes it got just plain weird — if not creepy.
“Kick me on the face, please,” @itsmitzisu wrote.
Like a true gentleman, Avelino had a dreamy response: “Sorry, I don’t hit women.”
Sorry hindi ako nananakit ng babae https://t.co/YVQlGqKGDt

Ultimately, some people just wanted him to respond, such as @almera___ who said: “Please make me feel giddy before I sleep. Even just one dot from you would make my whole day.”
Avelino obliged:

Del Pilar is the youngest general to fight during the Philippine-American war. One of the year’s most highly-anticipated films, Goyo: Ang Batang Heneral started showing in cinemas yesterday.
