If we didn’t know any better, we’d say this was a marketing gimmick.
Both Baron Geisler and Kiko Matos have accepted Alvin Aguilar’s invitation to slug it out in the ring, according to the Universal Reality Combat Championship (URCC) Facebook page.
They will fight each other as part of URCC’s Fight Night on Jun 25 at the Palace Pool Club.
Kiko Matos was the first to get in touch with the event organizers on the evening of May 30.
A day later, Baron agreed to do the fight as well.
At the event press conference, URCC Founder Alvin Aguilar said that it is better for the actorrs to settle their differences in the cage than to fight in bars.
“Fighting in the streets and in bars is just no good. I’m no stranger to that, I’ve been in so many. And that’s something that shouldn’t be done anymore. That’s in the past. No, you go to the URCC and showcase your skills if you really want to be a fighter,” Aguilar said.
Aguilar emphasized that the actors will not fight professional URCC athletes. The event is just a venue for them to let off steam
“After that, forget it. You guys aren’t fighting for anything anyway, except for pride,” he said. “They’re not fighting over anything — they’re not fighting over a girl, they’re not fighting over money — it’s just false pride.”
Neither of the actors have professional MMA training.
Baron, however, has a black belt in taekwondo. His brother Donald David “Donnie” Geisler is a taekwondo coach and former Olympian.
The MMA Pilipinas Facebook page uploaded a video of the actor practicing his moves on the bags.

While there was no additional information about the training video, netizens assumed it was taken in perparation for Baron’s upcoming fight.
Who knows, at the end of the fight the two might even end us best friends.
