Gay beauty pageant celebrates Black Nazarene feast

There’s another way to celebrate the Feast of the Black Nazarene.

A TV Patrol feature by Niko Baua highlights the recently held Miss Gay Quiapo 2014 pageant in Manila’s Barangay 306 Zone 30.

“There were 26 candidates in full drag regalia vying for the title. Right next to stage was a replica of the Black Nazarene, whose feast day will be commemorated on Thursday, Jan 9,” reports ANC.

TV Patrol showed a clip of the pageant Archbishop emeritus Oscar Cruz. Surprisingly, he said, “I do not feel bad [about it]. I respect gay men and I don’t think there was any intention on the part of those concerned to be irreverent to the Black Nazarene. Who knows? They could be devotees also of the Black Nazarene, too.”

Now, that’s a miracle.
