Could this small mention usher in her big showbiz comeback?
Filipino actress-turned-politician Alma Moreno made an unexpected appearance on the May 12 episode of the American game show “Jeopardy!” as an answer… a USD1200 answer at that.
If you’ve been living under a rock and don’t know how the show works, contestants of “Jeopardy” are given answers and must state their responses in question form.
Coming in the category “Alma matters” where other people named Alma were also included, the answer mentions Moreno’s risque past and how she eventually entered politics.
“Once the ‘sex goddess’ of this country’s movies, Alma Moreno was elected to its Parañaque City council in 2007,” the host Alex Trebek asked on the show.
Of course, the matching question was “What is the Philippines?”
Moreno was tagged as the “Sex Goddess of the Philippines” of the 1970s and 1980s. She was also known as a dancer who popularized the high-cut outfit called the “Tangga.”
Moreno first entered politics in 2004, when she ran for mayor of Parañaque City but lost. As the Jeopardy question stated, she was elected to the Parañaque City council in 2007.
In 2016, Moreno ran as senator under the party of former Vice President Jejomar Binay.
She became a sensational internet meme after a disastrous interview with Karen Davila on the show ANC in 2015.
