Former ‘Pinoy Big Brother’ star Niña Jose and husband ‘doing fine’ despite COVID-19

Former actress Niña Jose and her husband Cezar Quiambao, the mayor of Bayambang town in Pangasinan, have tested positive for COVID-19  but have already recovered, the couple announced on Facebook today.

Quiambao said in a post that he and Jose “are both doing fine” and have been treated by doctors “who believe that we have now recovered.”  The 65-year-old mayor said that he and his 31-year-old wife sought treatment on March 16, and received their results during their 14-day quarantine.

Despite their recovery, the couple will undergo another 14-day quarantine to assure that they’re not putting anyone at risk.

“We are asking for your prayers, not only for us but for the whole world as we all try to overcome this pandemic. We also encourage everyone to please stay at home and wash your hands properly and frequently. Let us make the sacrifice of being apart for a few moments so we may be together longer,” Quiambao added.

Jose, who was one of the competitors in the pilot season of the reality show Pinoy Big Brother in 2006, confirmed her husband’s announcement on Facebook where she wrote, “[B]ecause god is more powerful than this, we are doing fine and we are doing great!”

The couple has been married since 2017.

Jose is the fourth known entertainment personality in the country to contract the virus, after actresses Sylvia Sanchez and Iza Calzado, as well as actor Christopher de Leon. Like the 31-year-old former actress, Calzado and de Leon have tested positive for the virus and have both recovered.

Veteran actor Domingo “Menggie” Cobarrubias died of pneumonia while waiting for his test results.
