A bunch of Filipinos are devastated over yesterday’s news that South Korean celebrity couple Song Hye Kyo and Song Joong Ki are getting divorced — and they want the Twitterverse to know it.

For those who are not up to speed with Korean pop culture, the couple, also known as, “Song-Song” starred in the 2016 drama Descendants of the Sun (DoTS). They turned their reel relationship into a real one and got married about a year after. DoTS is hugely popular all over the world, especially in the Philippines, and fans loved that the two actors ended up together IRL.

But, as it turns out, some relationships don’t last forever.

Korean media reported yesterday that Joong Ki had filed for a divorce. Perhaps anticipating a backlash from fangirls and fanboys the world over, Joong Ki apologized to their supporters in a statement published by Soompi.

“First, I’d like to apologize for delivering this unfortunate news to the many fans who love and care for me. I have begun the process of filing for divorce from Song Hye Kyo,” he said.

Hye Kyo’s agency confirmed the announcement and said that the divorce was brought by “differences in personality.”

Fans quickly took to social media upon hearing the news and many continue to be emotional about it today.

For those who still don’t understand how much of a big deal this is, turn to netizen @BrotherFerdie’s tweet, which says, “Songsong is like Brangelina.”

“Being a K-drama fanatic and a SongSong Couple fan, I can’t help but to feel sad upon knowing that they parted ways,” @jldawdy said with four crying emojis.

@denmartanGA said that she was so affected by the divorce that she forgot to pay the jeepney she was riding.

“I remember I was so affected by the Song-Song divorce earlier that because I couldn’t stop reading [about it], I forgot to pay the jeepney,” she said in Filipino.

“lol the Song-Song couple divorce is heartbreaking. There really is no true love, I will die alone,” @marybethmarini joked.

@iamCezkot said she moved to Twitter because her Facebook feed was filled with news about the divorce.

“All I can see on FB is the Song-Song couple break up, I’ll just stay here,” she said.

She probably soon found out that Twitter wasn’t any different.

“I don’t want to hear anything about the Song-Song couple anywhere, it’s already so heartbreaking,” @DexieyQt said.

@jumarjomar shared a screenshot of a conversation with his friend and said that they were both mourning the news.

“When I’m no longer too busy, I will rewatch DOTS and for sure it will never be the same again. Maybe I’ll cry more in each episode,” he said.

Perhaps they can turn their attention to the local remake of DoTS which will air on GMA network this year and star Dingdong Dantes?

Nope? You’re right; it’s just not the same.
