Last year, Coconuts Manila featured Filipino plus-size model Kat Gumabao and interviewed her right before she walked the runway in Melbourne, Australia. In June, she was part of Paris Fashion Week, and as of yesterday, was able to add New York Fashion Week (NYFW) to her list of accomplishments.

Gumabao was part of the fashion show for plus-size clothing brand Torrid held in West SoHo, Manhattan. She landed the spot after competing and landing in the top 10 of the brand’s model search.

“It’s time to put the #Philippines on the map when it comes to plus size fashion. World, I’m coming for you. Lord, this is all for you,” the model said in her latest Instagram post.

Gumabao announced the good news through an Instagram photo posted on Friday with the caption: “I can finally scream it to the world. Another exciting chapter of my life is about to unfold and I’m so happy to be experiencing it with these gorgeous ladies. Hope you guys follow our journey all throughout #NYFW”

Here she is in a video with her fellow finalists:

Before the fashion show, Gumabao also shared photos of her adventures in New York.

Gumabao recently signed with Viva Artists Agency together with her brother, actor Marco Gumabao, and sister, model and volleyball player Michelle Gumabao.
