Will the Philippines get its own One Direction?

In an episode that aired Saturday, Filipino boy band JBK got a “yes” from all four judges of the X Factor UK, the very competition where 1D was formed.

Band members Joshua Camacho Bulot, Bryan Doronila del Rosario, and Kim Lawrenz Ordonio flew to London from the Philippines just to audition for the show.

“24 hours flight,” Bulot said.

The group sang British singer Sam Smith’s Lay Me Down, an audition that garnered positive reviews from the judges.

“Good for you,” Simon Cowell immediately said after the performance ended. Singer Nicole Scherzinger followed it up with another compliment and said: “Oh boys, you are making all the Filipinos so proud right now.”

Judge Louis Walsh praised the group for going to London for the audition, “I love your dedication, flying from the Philippines. It was good.”

In the show’s 12th season, Filipino girl group 4th Impact also flew to London for their audition and reached the 5th week of the live shows.

Also in Saturday’s episode was Filipino-Australian Elysa Villareal who sang Fleur East’s Sax and got a “yes'” from all four judges. Last week, Gaga Lord, a Filipino woman who has been living and working in the UK also got four ‘yes’ votes.
