Fil-Canadian filmmaker makes it to Cannes

Remember the award-winning films Hele and Tandem? Filipino filmmakers are creating a buzz in the international film scene, one award at a time. Here’s something we can add to the list of works competing international film festivals.

Christian Paolo Lat’s “Sejour” was recently accepted at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival in France under the short film category.

Sejour is a film about the pain of losing a loved one.

“Just getting in Cannes for me, it feels very dreamy. I’m just humbled by this opportunity,” he said in an interview with ABS-CBN.

Christian Paolo Lat directs, produces and acts in many of his films. He’s made about 30 short films, and has received 19 awards in the Philippines and in Canada.

This year, he won five awards at the Sinulog Film Festival in Cebu. He was also awarded two Ani ng Dangal Awards for achieving highest artistic excellence and bringing honor to the Philippines.
