With the year coming to a close, there’s bound to be a lot of people who’ll make New Year’s resolutions about getting fit. Well, in case they need inspiration, they should take a look at comedian Bearwin Meily.
Bearwin made his mark as a chubby funny guy. However, in 2011, when he weighed 199 pounds at just 5’7,” he realied that he needed to shape up.
Bearwin had said in an an interview with the defunct Kapuso showbiz-oriented talk show Showbiz Central, “At the time, I felt so heavy. I was worried that any time, I would suffer a heart attack.”
Bearwin had joked that showbiz had made him fat. He had jokingly told showbiz scribe Ricky Lo, “You see, I came from a poor family and we hardly ate three square meals a day. When I joined showbiz and started making money, I tried to catch up by eating and eating, (it’s like I wanted to catch up), and that’s how I gained weight. Showbiz is fattening.”
That year, Bearwin made the first moves toward getting more fit. He quit smoking and then learned to eat healthy. Aside from dieting, he got into long-distance running.
Bearwin now maintains the ideal weight of 154 pounds for his height.
“The comedian has actually participated in numerous running events, including local and international marathons, from five-kilometer to 42-kilometer runs,” reports ABS-CBN News Online.
